RICHARD P. GOODKIN, ESQ.
Richard has more than 35 years of experience as General Counsel for several leading public and private high technology corporations and now is a solo practitioner. His extensive background includes domestic and international negotiations, IPO leadership, licensing, litigation, employee issues, contracts, and bids.
Previously, as the cofounder of UniCAD, a startup CAD software company, he negotiated all key relationships. He led the company's evolution into an attractive acquisition candidate, resulting in its sale for $10 million. He was the lead attorney in a successful IPO for Bachman Information Systems, negotiating three simultaneous European distributor acquisitions as preconditions. He was also lead counsel on a $48 million 'do or die' securitization of multi-state large computer system leases that allowed his client to recapitalize and emerge from the threat of imminent bankruptcy; subsequently this client was sold to British Telecom for $185 million.
In the last six years Richard has become an angel investor in several private medical healthcare startups. He is General Counsel to a startup oncology pharmaceutical company and a manufacturer and seller of medical lasers, and he also has represented companies in the intravascular diagnostic and perfusion regulation fields.
His education includes:
– J.D., Harvard Law School
– B.A., Princeton University Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa
